New to coaching? Here are a few questions you might have on your mind
Coaching is a resource for all aspects of professional and personal life. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s absolutely fine – here are a few of the questions we’re regularly asked and we’d love to hear from you by email if you want to ask anything further.
-
Coaching is a relationship and a process as individual as you are. It’s a space to idenitfy and then creative positive change. This begins with identifying the objectives of the client: it’s all about discovering what you want, recognising the obstacles that might have blocked your way before, and facilitating new skills and habits and realisations that create the changes you want to see.
-
Freeing. The conversation is confidential and expansive. While recognising behaviours or patterns we want to move away from can feel difficult, the rewards are growth in confidence clarity and creative thinking: realising how much more power over our lives and choices we have.
-
For some people, it’s better. If working online, Rachel will always check you are somewhere you’re able to talk freely and think freely. There’s no substitute for knowing no one’s prior knowledge or existing assumptions are there to overhear, or overshadow. If need any help with Zoom, let us know and we’ll make sure you have what you need.
-
If you book a package of coaching time, Rachel will be available between sessions, 9am-5pm weekdays. In your first session, Rachel will arrange with you which messaging service you’ll use.
-
Yes. As a member of the International Coaching Federation, Rachel will not work with a client she believes has psychotherapeutic needs that make coaching unsuitable.
However, if you are already in psychotherapy and wish to use coaching in conjunction to work on specific areas, Rachel will be able to discuss this with you.
-
Rachel has some clients who come for a few sessions every so often over the years, others who want to work more continuously and others who have a ‘creative MOT’ every year or so… there is no ‘wrong’ way of showing up. Rachel will be absolutely clear in checking in with you about your objectives as the sessions progress, and what she believes serves you best. But the choice is absolutely yours.
“I’ve progressed so far personally and professionally and so much of that is down to working with you.”
Vanessa, Oxford
